It also has real, documented crime — mostly opportunistic theft, concentrated in specific places at specific times. It is not a destination for a first-ever solo trip, but it is very manageable with preparation. It depends on your passport. US, Canadian and Australian citizens have needed an e-Visa since April 2025, and that requirement is still in force — airlines won't board you without one.
